Education

Prof. Dissertori and members of his group are responsible for lectures and exercise classes at all levels, from introductory Physics for BSc students of Physics and Mathematics, introduction to nuclear and particle physics at the Bachelor level, as well as core and advanced courses on the Master and PhD level on topics such as Quantum Chromodynamics or Physics beyond the Standard Model. We also offer semester theses projects at CERN.

Prof. Dissertori's group is also involved in a signifcant manner in the propaedeutic teaching of physics for students from other ETH departments and study programs, such as environmental and earth sciences. In particular, Prof. Dissertori has developed a new course (Physik 1+2) for the BSc programs in Medicine and Health Sciences.

Together with Prof. M. Gaberdiel from the ITP, Prof. Dissertori was founder of the Joint Master in High Energy Physics between ETH Zurich and Ecole Polytechnique Paris. This Master programme regularly attracts high-quality international students.

Currently Prof. Dissertori has the institutional role of Director of Studies of the ETH Physics Department.

So far, the teaching activities of G. Dissertori have been awarded with three Golden Owls (2005, 2009, 2015) and the Credit Suisse Award for best teaching at ETH (2013).
